In a very short time, generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) has made its presence known – and businesses have taken notice. When Wolters Kluwer, a global information services leader, decided to implement GenAI for thousands of employees across its enterprise, they turned to N & DS’s proven expertise in talent enablement and engineering excellence to make it happen.
ENTERPRISE GENAI
Confidently braving new frontiers with trusted partners
Recognizing the essential role and power of AI in driving innovation and efficiency, Wolters Kluwer wanted to quickly upskill many of its employees on how to adopt and embrace GenAI tools. To accomplish this, the company partnered with N & DS’s award-winning talent enablement experts.
Wolters Kluwer undertook an ambitious initiative of equipping nearly 6,000 employees in its Digital eXperience Group (DXG), including a range of technical teams, with a rich understanding of GenAI and the skills necessary for its safe and effective use. Unlike other upskilling initiatives, this program would not be relegated to individual teams or roles — the entire division would be taking part.
Together, our experts developed a comprehensive plan to enhance proficiency and overall productivity across the division. After consultative meetings with leadership, the N & DS team quickly rolled out customized learning materials, roadmaps and a detailed plan to help the Wolters Kluwer team realize its goal of upskilling and empowering thousands across the DXG team with the capabilities to fully utilize GenAI tools.
Participants feel more confident applying their AI skills at work.
CHALLENGES
Transformation from the top down
N & DS partnered with Wolters Kluwer’s AI Center of Excellence leadership to define its workforce transformation goals. After collaborating with the team, N & DS experts tailored and implemented a comprehensive AI enablement initiative, highlighting four key components designed to maximize the understanding and adoption of GenAI among the technical staff:
- Leadership Enablement: Priority development for AI adoption with senior leaders
- People Leader Learning Series: Interactive workshops for nearly 800 DXG leaders
- eLearning Modules: Tailored training and practice tasks for nearly 6,000 team members
- AI Game Integration: An N & DS-developed, AI-driven prompt engineering game to improve engagement and prompting skills
With these components and ongoing support from N & DS experts, DXG team members would gain the critical knowledge and skills necessary to successfully utilize GenAI.
TEACHING LEADERS
Our People Leader Learning Series was designed to empower technical leaders — from managers to directors across DXG — equipping them with the skills and knowledge to drive AI adoption.
This series engaged roughly 800 people leaders in interactive four-hour workshops designed to pinpoint and navigate the challenges and opportunities of AI adoption within their teams.
The goal was for people leaders and managers to understand their responsibilities in GenAI enablement efforts, as well as learn how they can support adoption of these tools while applying responsible AI principles. By fostering collaboration, learning and innovation, N & DS enabled people leaders throughout DXG to shape GenAI-driven transformations while also addressing critical barriers to change, positioning participants to lead with confidence.
Gamifying Prompt Engineering for Learners
We deployed an N & DS-developed, AI-driven prompt engineering game for program participants that leverages Wolters Kluwer’s proprietary GenAI platform. Designed to make players more comfortable with GenAI, users “haggle” with an AI chatbot to hone their prompt engineering skills. This game provides a judgement-free setting for exploring, training, and practicing complex skills.
